The Graduate Visa (subclass 485) is for international students who have recently graduated with a degree from an Australian institution and/or
have skills and qualifications in occupations that Australia needs. This visa allows you to live, work, and study in Australia temporarily for a period ranging from 1.5 to 5 years, depending on your individual circumstances. It provides opportunities for international students to extend their stay in Australia and enhance their eligibility for a permanent or provisional skilled visa.
There are three streams under this visa:
- Graduate Work stream
- Post-Study Work stream
- Second Post-Study Work stream
To be eligible, you must currently hold or have held a student visa 500 in the past 6 months. You must also meet the Australian Study requirements
or have a qualification relevant to an occupation on the skilled occupation list. Additionally, you must be under 50 years of age, hold a valid
passport from the United Kingdom, the United States of America, Canada, New Zealand, or the Republic of Ireland, or prove your English
proficiency with an IELTS equivalent overall score of at least 6 with a minimum score of 5 for each of the 4 parts. You must also meet health and
character requirements and have adequate health insurance for the duration of the visa.
The subclass 485 visa allows you to live and work temporarily in Australia. You can also bring your immediate family members and apply for a
second Graduate 485 visa if you have studied and lived in regional Australia.
